Spent Catalysts

Our know-how enables us to design customized recycling processes for certain products, for example, for special catalysts which are used in natural gas purification facilities to eliminate mercury and sulfur before further processing of the natural gas. The catalysts – small beads made of metal-ceramic – absorb up to 5% mercury and 40% sulfur and have to be replaced thereafter.

Batrec Industrie AG has developed a process to detoxify the catalysts environmentally sound before they are returned to the subsequent recycling process to recover their valuable components.
