Lithium Battery Recycling
Modern, mobile electronic devices often require a higher power consumption than conventional alkaline cells are likely to offer. Due to their high energy potential, their low weight and the low volume, Lithium batteries are the ideal energy storage element for these devices.
Besides chrome-nickel steel, cobalt, lithium, cooper, aluminium and other metals, Lithium batteries contain electrolytes. These are a hazard to the environment. Therefore, Lithium batteries have to be disposed of carefully and sustainably.
Recycling Lithium batteries is particularly challenging, because Lithium reacts so strongly with the humidity in the air when the battery case is opened that there is a risk of fire or even explosion.
Batrec Industrie AG has developed a special process that guarantees safe disposal of Lithium batteries, a development which proved to be very successful.
